BBQ

Dave had a BBQ with several friends from high school this past weekend.
He is goofing around with his two very close friends Brad and Jamie.

I took a picture of the wonderful kabobs he made. I loved getting to know his friends better and it would have been even nicer if it didn't end up raining.
Dave took a picture of me with his friends but I ended up standing in such a way (with my hands in my pockets) so I looked as big as a horse. I didn't include it in this posting. Trust me I was there but I wasn't worth looking at that day.
We did enjoy an hour bike ride on the mountain bike trails and it was a blast!

Megan

Megan is my niece and I think she looks very pretty in these pictures. I'm very proud of her accomplishments. I'm lucky to have a smart and lovely niece like her.

Indy 500

Dave and I went to the Indy 500 this year and it was GREAT!

I've never been before but I discovered that I like the sound of really fast cars. They are also fun to watch, but they buzz by so fast it is hard to see them. However the sound is unlike anything I’ve heard before. You can tell by the way they sound that they are moving faster than anything else on the ground. I thought I might get bored but there was a lot to see. We saw the cars getting ready for the race, we saw Gasoline Alley, they had something that looked like a racing expo and we looked at all the different racing products they featured, we saw the “Go Daddy” girl back by the garage area (the men seemed excited to see her) and we walked around the grounds.

We even stumbled across what I consider a REAL celebrity. Tim Allen from the TV show Home Improvement was there. He looked a little scruffy but it was definitely him. I’ve attached a few photos. One of the close up of his face and the other of me standing near the golf cart where he was seated talking to someone.

I was impressed that the food and drink prices were reasonable and they let you bring into the stands a small cooler. We decided to bring our own lunch and drinks. We didn’t buy anything at the race track except two official race programs. I was impressed that they put the programs in a plastic zip lock protector. It worked out well when it rained and it is now keeping my program in nice condition at home.

I enjoyed the day so much I would highly recommend a visit once in your lifetime to the Indy 500. Of course, I enjoyed it so much I hope to visit again next year.
